Who is Berchman Sisters in Karachi

Who is Berchmans in Karachi her work and what they have done to receive such great accolades and other praises from the Pakistanis. Everyone in Karachi and throughout Pakistan is acknowledging their services and the great work they have done over the course of all these years.

Berchman Road dedicated to Sister Berchman for her great services in education sector at Jesus and Mary. Today I had chance to visit he street behind the DJ College, it was light up and made beautiful. I was a student of the dynamic, charismatic and beautiful Sister Berchman. Benazir Bhutto, Abida Hussain, Wali khans & Ayub khan daughters , most Pathan families & many from Lahore and Karachi.

She is the beacon of education. She made us much of what we are today. Fighters for sure. St Mary’s university has announced to award its highest honor to sister Berchmans Conway for her services to the people of Pakistan. She has been working different roles throughout Pakistan and never left the country even in the face of dire happenings. She remained with us through every thick and thin.

Lifestory of Sister Berchman is an inspiration. She was born in 1929 in Iceland and joined Convent of Jesus Marry School in 1951 before coming to Pakistan in 1953 at the age of 24. She served as educationalist in Karachi, Lahore and Murree till the age of 60. Thousands of students got education from Sister Berchman and she was awarded Sitara-e-Quaid-e-Azam by the Pakistani government in 2012.

It’s a very good step by the Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani to name a road in Khayaban-e-Saadi in Clifton after Sister Berchman as she richly deserves this and this will project a soft image of Pakistan internationally. This step was taken under sections 85 and 86 of Sindh Local Government Act 2010. One hopes that KMC would also beautify this road and would live up to its name. Karach is proud to have this road now.
