The Meteorological Department expects the cold snap to intensify in different parts of the country from next week. In some cities the mercury will reach minus 2.
Various news channels in Pakistan have quoted the Meteorological Department as saying that there is a strong possibility of a cold wave in the country from next Friday to Sunday and it will carry on for sometime.
According to the Meteorological Department, the cold wave starting from Friday will pass through the northern border and Al-Jawf region and will cover Hail Qasim and the eastern region while some areas of the northern regions will be affected. The department said that the mercury could reach minus 2 degrees Celsius in the mentioned areas next week. The cold snap, which begins on Friday, will also affect the Riyadh region and northern areas on Sunday.
On the other hand, according to the Saudi news agency SPA, the mercury in the northern parts of the country is likely to reach from 5 degrees to minus degrees. In view of the expected cold wave, the Department of Civil Defense is also being directed to take precautionary measures. Avoid cold foods in the winter and avoid cold drinks as much as possible. Also take care of your family and remember that prevention is better than cure.
