The devastating fire which broke out suddenly in Khensar town of Tharparkar on Saturday destroyed as many as 220 hundred houses and other structures of the residents within no time. The inferno which broke out during the cooking in one of the devastated houses in Bajeer locality of the tiny town of the desert district engulfed the entire locality and destroyed more than two hundred houses and other structures of the residents causing them huge financial losses.
Azeem Bajeer, Abdul Rauf, Badal Bajeer, Bilawal, Abdul Rahim and other fire victims talking to the local journalists said that soon after the inferno erupted in their houses they informed the officials of the district administration to send the fire tenders to put out the devastating fire but the majority of the houses of their locality were destroyed before they could reach in the locality.
They said that the fire incident completely damaged all valuables including gold ornaments, cash. grains and some heads of the livestock were also reduced to ashes ” Over over two thousand villagers have been rendered shelter less in one of the devastating fire incidents in the history of Tharparkar district’ they lamented.
They said that some of the residents also received burn injuries while trying to extinguish the flames of the fire. The affected people demanded the proper compensation of their colossal losses due to the horrific fire incident in their locality. The GDA,s MPA from Chhachhro, Haji Abdul Razzak Rahimoon expressing his deep grief and anger over the huge losses of their residents said that he himself had informed the officials to send fire tenders but major portion of the locality was already damaged before the fire tenders reached the devastated village.
Mr Rahimoon also demanded the survey to assess the losses and the proper compensation for the loss of billions of rupees from the high-ups of the Sindh government. DC Tharparkar Mohammad Nawaz Soho said that he had already directed the officials to reach the affected village and try to provide the relief items as soon as possible. “The revenue officials have started the relief operation in the locality” he added.and said that fire victims were being provided with all relief items.
He said that he would write to the high-ups for the proper compensation after the complete survey and assessment of the losses of the massive fire incident.
