The deputy commissioner Tharparkar Mohammad Nawaz Soho has said that events like colours of Thar Festival would go a long way to further promote and project the culture, rich traditions, history and other hitherto unexplored and unknown aspects of the desert district to the people of the world . Speaking to the media persons on the second day on Saturday of the festival at the stalls established by various organizations to display their products.
Mr Soho during his visit to the various stalls of handicrafts, embroidery and other Thari cultural products installed by Thardeep Rural Development Programme, Baanha Beli, District Development Association, Sindh Education Foundation and different government departments, praised their efforts for making the event successful and more attractive for the participants of the three-day festival. ” We have achieved our goal to a great extent by presenting the beautiful face of Thar with the arrangements of this festival in collaboration with Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company.
Thar Foundation and other organizations : added Mr Soho. He said that bikers and different bands of both Pakistan Armed Forces and Rangers contributed greatly by showing different feats. He said that the district administration made this attempt with a view to give exposure to the students, artists, musicians, singers and common people to perform and to entertain the participants. He said that the concluding sessions would be organized in the historical Naukot fort on Sunday evening. “
The concerned functionaries have already directed to decorate the entire ancient fort with the colorful lights so that it can attract the participants of the mega mega musical event ” he said and added that some provincial ministers were expected to witness the events in the fort. The PPP MPA Rana Hamir Singh said that such events were the need of the hour to introduce the multiple aspects of Thar when it was all set to change Pakistan for its huge natural resources. He said that the PPP government in Sindh was fully committed to overhaul its infrastructures by carrying out more development projects across the desert district. Mr Singh highly lauded the efforts of the organizers for arranging such a festival to show the colours of Thar.
He said that he was very much impressed by the way students from various schools of the district performed, adding he said that it was the responsibility of every saner element from Thar to depict its true face when the world had already shrunk into a global village. The PPP MPA said that such healthy activities would leave better impacts and bring the people together. for the promotion and projections of the positive aspects of Thar. The SSP Thar Hassan Sardar Niazi said that organizers of the mega event played a great role in providing entertainment to the participants and he also lauded the brilliant performances of bands of Pakistani Army and Rangers.
He said that he was himself overseeing the security measures being taken to ensure the peaceful atmosphere in an already peaceful region. Mr Mohsin Babbar of Thaar Foundation said that he was thankful to all the participants for taking keen interests in all activities of the second day of the festival. The contests of camel and horse races were among the main features of the festival on secondary as well. The known folk and classical singers also performed and enthralled the participants on Saturday night.
