Probe demanded into Thar engineer’s death

The PPP MPA from Tharparkar, Mr  Surrender Valasai has demanded the high-ups of Sindh government  order the probe into the mysterious death of Engineer Haresh Kumar Meghwar . Mr Valasai speaking to the journalists here on Wednesday said that he took up the matter of the tragic death of the young engineer on the floor of Sindh Assembly during its session and requested the Sindh Minister for Energy, Mr Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh to form the committee of the concerned officials and experts  to probe the death of Mr Kumar.

He said that the young talented Mr Haresh Kumar 28,  from Vehrijhap village of Diplo taluka after completing his studies from China with the great distinction had joined  the mining company as an engineer in Environmental Management Company in Block 1 of Thar Coalfields near Islammot town but he died within next few days under mysterious circumstances. He said that the officials, according to his parents, had already confessed that he was not given the proper treatment when he had suffered cardiac arrest while he was on his work The PPP MPA  deplored that it was very tragic that a talented youth from Thar who was also doing his PhD in Environmental Science  died at a very young age  due to the alleged callous attitude of the officials of the mining firms engaged in the coal extraction and in the projects of  power generation.

Mr Valasi noted it with concerns that it was very unfortunate that heirs were not being properly compensated by the officials despite the widespread  protests by the people of his community in Mithi, Diplo and other towns of the desert district. ” I have demanded a thorough probe, the stern departmental actions and the proper compensation for the heirs of Mr Kumar” he added and assured his full support to the aggrieved family members.

He asked the officials of mining firms especially in Block 1 near Islamkot to mend their ways and stop treating the local people as the step-children adding he said that people of Thar had given the great sacrifices by allowing the coal extraction for the better and bright future of Pakistan and for them after PPP leadership had gone ahead with mega projects in the desert district. He said that both PPP leadership and the lawmakers from Thar would never allow executives and the officials of the mining firms to mete out such step-motherly treatment. The PPP MPA hoped that Mr Imtiaz Shaikh would form the committee to do justice with the aggrieved family of Mr Kumar adding he thanked his fellows in Sindh Assembly, who had observed a one-minute silence to mourn the death of Mr Kumar on his request.
