Over 50 houses gutted in Thar, Badin

More than fifty houses and other structures of the villagers were destroyed in two separate devastating incidents in Tharparkar and Badin districts rendering more than 6 hundred people homeless. More than 20 thatched houses, huts and other structures of Meghwar community were destroyed when fire broke out in village Railo Rind near Mithi town on Wednesday.

The fire victims said that one of the houses caught fire accidentally and got into flames and then the strong winds carried the blaze to other adjacent houses and engulfed more 18 houses within the next few minutes. The villagers said that the blaze had not only destroyed their houses and all the valuables but also three goats were also killed.

They deplored that after the devastating fire they were exposed to under the open skies adding they demanded adequate compensation for the rehabilitation. More than 30 houses and other structures were damaged in village Moule Dino Khaskheli near Nindo Shahar of Badin district. The houses of the people of different communities living in the villages were completely damaged when the fire broke out accidentally in one of the portions of the ill-fated village on Tuesday evening.

The victims said that all the valuables including gold, grains and cash were reduced to ashes. DC Badin, Agha Shahnawaz along with other officials reached the village and announced Rs 0.5 million as the compensation for the victims and also distributed the relief items among the villagers, who lost all their belongings.
