QAT workers march on roads to protest against water crisis

The large number of the workers of Qaumi awami Tehreek and the residents of the town from various walks of life took out the rally from Kandi Chowk and after marching on different roads for five kilometers staged the demonstration at Kashmir Chowk of the town.

They were there to register their protest against the nagging water crisis in the entire town for past many months, Advocate Shahnawaz Hingorjo, Subhan Bajeer, Zahid Gul Otho, Danish Permar, Gulshan sindhi and other and other leaders of the protesting marchers talking to the media persons deplored that thousands of the people of the town had been deprived of the drinking water by the officials public health engineering department, who according to then, were not bothered to put the water works including Asis’s biggest RO plant at Misri Shah on the outskirts of the town.

They alleged that people of the town had been left at the mercy of the tanker mafia after all waterworks ceased to function and provide the water to citizens. They alleged that due to massive corrupt practices of the officials all RO plants of the desert lying faulty for past many months and people of Tharparkar district were again forced to drink the contaminated water of wells thus exposing their lives to viral infections and water-borne districts.

They alleged that PPP lawmakers from the desert district, who were boasting of installing the costly RO plants to provide clean drinking water , were nowhere to been after the plants went faulty and the officials of the private firm, which was given the contract of installing over 750 RO plants to provide safe drinking water to Tharis, stopped running them after their contract expired last year.

The leaders of the protesting citizens said that officials were not also providing them water from the water supply ponds near Naukot town through the pipeline after some moor had also gone faulty. They warned to widen scope of their protest if their demands were not met
