ILR stands for Indefinite Leave to Remain. ILR is used in United Kingdom. ILR is an immigration status which allows the person who holds it to live and work in the UK for an unlimited time, without any need to apply for a visa extension.

Pakistanis are raising quite a lot of issues with UK home office and Pakistani officials about ILR. My husband with UK ILR Pakistani passport bought twice a ticket back to be with his kids in UK and twice his ticket got wasted because the staff Jinnah International Airport Karachi Airport kept asking a ILR card which never was provided as the proof online. The situation is quite grave and anxiety inducing.

He logged in on the UK home office website showing them everything but they didn’t let him board twice isn’t this ridiculous and total inhuman of the staff. He went for a two week holiday and had to go back to work from today 18/10 now because of the staff at Jinnah international airport Karachi airport his job is at stake. He works in the UK has a ILR and owns a house in the United Kingdom.

Please guide us as we are in enormous distress. How many more ticket would we need to buy and will go in the bin and for how long more will they keep father of 3small children’s away from them.Only because you don’t issue any card and they don’t trust the proof online. Kindly have mercy upon my small family and help us out. Staff at Karachi Airport is totally inhuman and not educated about travelers their documents nothing they are their to bully people.

For us in Pakistan it is just a matter of game. the journalist Umar Cheema, who was part of #PanamaPapers was later on depending the same accused ruling family of Nawaz Sharif and even didn’t present anything solid in Court. Now he is saying same thing about Imran Khan offshore company in Pandora Papers. That sounds like an actual Justice league. I’m looking forward to it. I predict this will be a big fanfare with shock headlines but very little actual substance. Panama Papers had so little wrongdoing.

This is a very popular financial instrument built to leverage willingness of people to take a ‘chance’. It’s probabilities at play. Through prize bonds, the gov. raises debt & instead of paying interest to everyone, it pays a jackpot to a few. There is a 0.0002% chance to win the first prize in a year, and that is still better than the probability of dying in a plane crash (c. 0.0001%), so those who are afraid of flying, there are higher chances of you winning the jackpot, than dying in a plane crash. Imagine that.

Now lets look at the PKR 750 prize bond. The first prize is PKR 1.5 million, the second prize is PKR 500k (there can be 3 winners for the second prize), and the third prize is PKR 9,300 (there can be 1,696 winners for the third prize. The government gives out the following ‘winnings’ at every prize bond draw of PKR 750 bond.

First Prize: PKR 1.5m * 1 = PKR 1.5m
Second Prize: PKR 500k * 3 = PKR 1.5m
Third Prize: PKR 9,300 * 1,696 = PKR 15.772m

Total winnings distributed by the government: PKR 18,772,800

There are four draws in a year, so total ‘winnings’ distributed by the government in on full year is: PKR 18.77m * 4 = PKR 75.09m

So we now know that every year, Government pays out PKR 75.09m on a single series of a PKR 750 prize bond.

Now how many prize bonds of PKR 750 are in issuance? One ‘series’ has 999,999 bonds — which means that 999,999 bonds with value of PKR 750 each were sold by the government to raise PKR 749.99m (PKR 750 * 999,999).

So the amount raised by Government is PKR 749,999,250.

The winnings distributed is PKR 75,091,200. So the ‘cost of debt’ for the government is around 10.01% in the case of prize bonds. The current rate on Behbood Savings Certificates is around the same. In-effect, the cost of prize bonds is largely with long term GoP debt. As an investor, you can either invest in long term GoP bonds and get a sure shot return per annum, or you can try your luck and get a prize bond, with a probability of 0.68% of winning anything (even the smallest prize) in one year. There may be years when you don’t win anything, and then there might be a fluke year where you win the jackpot!

Yesterday, I visited Adiala Jail, Juvenile section. I was heart broken to see poor small kids who have been languishing in jails since months only because they neither have legal representation nor resources to submit surety bond in the court for their bail.

However, under Juvenile Justice system act 2018, court has the power to release juveniles without surety bound but hardly any judge prefer this practice. In addition to this, state is responsible to provide legal representation to a juvenile but as usual state has become a habitual absconder especially when it comes to the rights of vulnerable and oppressed people of this country. They might have committed the crime but they are still humans and still our future.

The more you know and observe the criminal justice system, the more you realize that the irreparable damage could only be undone by overhauling and complete restructuring of this system. This country is only for elite club. Rest of the people in this country are insects. It breaks my heart into thousands of pieces and really melts to know that how much talent we have been wasting in our juvie jails as this grows more.

I urge the federal and provincial governments to look into this and make sure that this get’s resolved in a proper way. I am not sure why no one really is interested in making this better because these kids have still a long way to go and we can improve their lives and future. Why cannot we teach them some skills and why cannot we give them in the foster care. We can also try to engage the NGOs and other private sectors to help out.

We must act now before it’s too late and a whole generation is lost.

In 2016 khadija siddiqui ,a law student was stabbed 23 times by his class fellow ,shah hussain .This is the repercussion of saying “NO”.This was a case of insistence and rejection .Why these egoistic souls can’t keep up with this rejection? He was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment but he has been released by court after 3.5 years of imprisonment.

Why on earth has Shah hussain, the animal who stabbed #KhadijaSiddiqui 23 times with a knife been released after 3.5 years vs. the 5 year sentence he was given by the court? After this, a #ZahirJaffer in the body of Shah hussain is lurking around you, beware. 23 times released from jail after serving 3.5y against his 5y sentence .Can PTI explain how when Govt cant remit sentence without Khadija’s consent nor does he qualify for good behaviour release given conviction under 324PPC?

Nothing will get better until the judicial reforms. We must point out all the flaws in our justice system. We must understand how almost all the cases always destroy the victim because our system is designed to protect the elitist lot. I never had any hope. Shah Hussain was convicted under 324PPC. He cannot be released for good behaviour, etc. He doesn’t qualify. As per reports, his influential father threatened people back then.There was a lot of character assassination of Khadija too ‘shame’ her into giving up.

And some people are just too much by asking:

Why didn’t she say anything when she was harassed.
Why didn’t she go to police/court when she was beaten/stabbed.

I mean do you even understand the meaning of harassment? The Battle Khadija Siddiqui fought for whole 3 freaking years, the same case when she was attacked by her ex-boyfriend went into vain, yes ladies and gentlemen that psychopath is set free.
